(83)<\/strong><a href=\"#_ftn1\"><sup>[1]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Today\u2019s Reading continues along the same subject, addressing People of the (previous) Compilation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>COMMENTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The Messenger, peace upon him, is commanded here to state unequivocally the beliefs he and his followers hold, namely Faith and trust in what is being revealed to them, as well as what was revealed previously (to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac and Jacob) and what was delivered to Moses and Jesus and Prophets from their Lord, making no distinction between any of them.&nbsp;&nbsp;The verse ends with, \u2018<em>and unto Him are we pure in our reverence\u2019<\/em>&nbsp;(\u0648\u0646\u062d\u0646 \u0644\u0647 \u0645\u0633\u0644\u0645\u0648\u0646).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">The next verse states:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u0648\u064e\u0645\u064e\u0646<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u064a\u064e\u0628\u0652\u062a\u064e\u063a\u0650<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u063a\u064e\u064a\u0652\u0631\u064e<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0627\u0644\u0652\u0625\u0650\u0633\u0652\u0644\u064e\u0627\u0645\u0650<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u062f\u0650\u064a\u0646\u064b\u0627<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0641\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0646<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u064a\u064f\u0642\u0652\u0628\u064e\u0644\u064e<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0645\u0650\u0646\u0652\u0647\u064f<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0648\u064e\u0647\u064f\u0648\u064e<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0641\u0650\u064a<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0627\u0644\u0652\u0622\u062e\u0650\u0631\u064e\u0629\u0650<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0645\u0650\u0646\u064e<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0627\u0644\u0652\u062e\u064e\u0627\u0633\u0650\u0631\u0650\u064a\u0646\u064e<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\ufd3f\u0668\u0665<\/strong><strong>}<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cFor whoever seeks a Standard of Accountability other than Pure Reverence, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be among the Losers.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-list\"><li>Verses 86-89 ask important questions about what one has literally WITNESSED AS TRUE AND JUST (Haqq), and provide incentives to self-assessment and a return (to God).&nbsp;&nbsp;\u2018Tawba\u2019 literally means \u2018to return,\u2019<a href=\"#_ftn2\"><sup>[2]<\/sup><\/a> but it is well-translated as \u2018repent\u2019 because when we repent, we regret something, turn away from it, and make amends.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">It is interesting to note that wrongdoing deniers who have witnessed the truth at one point and even tasted the sweetness of faith before rejecting it, will be banished from God\u2019s Mercy, having earned not just His banishment\/\u201cla\u2019nah\/\u0644\u0639\u0646\u0629\u201d but also that of the Custodian-Angels, and indeed, all Cognizant Humans!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;In Verse 90 we note WHO the ones are who truly lost their way and misguided themselves \u0627\u0644\u0636\u0627\u0644\u0648\u0646 \u2013 the ones we mention in our Opener\/ Faatiha when we say \u2018wala alDhaalleen.\u2019&nbsp; Verse 91 is self-explanatory, where we note that if Those Who Deny were to die as Deniers (having earned the title) no amount of wealth will do them any good on Judgment Day!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">4.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Verse 92 is a directive to listeners on how they should spend if they wish to attain the degree of \u2018Birr,\u2019 or Sincerity.&nbsp;&nbsp;\u2018Birr\u2019 from the root-verb \u2018barra\u2019 means being genuine, forthcoming, true to oneself and others (see Blog Post Day 14).&nbsp;&nbsp;If we wish to attain that degree, we have to give others what we actually cherish for ourselves! (Y. Ali, note 419, calls it the \u2018test of charity\u2019.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">5.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Verses 93-95 continue discussing People of (earlier) Compilation, specifically the Children of Israel (Israel=Jacob), regarding the foods Jacob had made unlawful unto himself&nbsp;&nbsp;(M. Asad\u2019s note 73-74), and encourage them to follow Abraham\u2019s creed, peace upon him.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">6.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Verse 96 begins by saying: \u201cIndeed, the first House placed (positioned) for Mankind is that which is in Becca \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Most commentators say it refers to Mecca (pronounced and written \u2018Becca\u2019 here), and that Becca is another name for Mecca.&nbsp;&nbsp;Yusuf Ali and Muhammad Asad agree, Asad explains in note 75-76 that the sounds B &amp;M are phonetically close and have sometimes interchanged as they evolved from older to more recent languages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Some Muslims have wondered whether there might be a connection between this and the \u2018Baca\u2019 of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm%2084:6-8&amp;version=ERV\">the Bible, Psalms of David, 84:5-6<\/a>, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quora.com\/Does-the-Bible-in-Psalm-84-5-refer-to-Mecca-Baca-in-present-day-Saudi-Arabia\">this has been refuted by Christians<\/a>, who see the word relating back to the Hebrew word for \u2018weeping\u2019 (which they forget is very similar to the Arabic \u0628\u0643\u0649- \u064a\u0628\u0643\u064a- \u0628\u0643\u0627\u0621 &#8230; a person who often weeps is even called \u0628\u0643\u064e\u0651\u0627\u0621&#8230;&#8230; )<sup> <a href=\"#_ftn3\"><sup>[3]<\/sup><\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Others (such as historian Dr. Ahmad Daoud ) explain that this is related to the First House of Worship which was \u2018positioned, or placed\u2019 (&nbsp;\u0648\u064f\u0636\u0650\u0639&nbsp;means placed from above NOT \u2018raised from below\u2019) upon a very important site.&nbsp;&nbsp;This location or site was where God first united the Spirit and the Human Self, bringing into existence the Cognizant Human who thus united for earthly existence, worshipped The Creator.&nbsp;&nbsp;He tells us this interpretation goes back to the ancient language from which Arabic evolved, where \u2018Ba\u2019 means \u2018Spirit,\u2019 and \u2018Ka\u2019 means \u2018Self.\u2019<a href=\"#_ftn4\"><sup>[4]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Others say that each&nbsp;<em>sound<\/em>&nbsp;in the Qur\u2019an is there for a purpose, and that its purpose is to fulfill its role in the general DIVINELY inspired DESIGN that is the Qur\u2019an.&nbsp;&nbsp;This Revelation, being the final one, is preserved by its Divine Design, which is a Unit of Precision.&nbsp;&nbsp;People have approached this Message and studied its numeric design, its scientifically-sound descriptions, its linguistic and phonetic distinction, and have always been awed by its precision.&nbsp;&nbsp;Where \u2018sounds\/letters\u2019 are concerned, numerically or phonetically, \u2018M\u2019 is not equivalent to \u2018B.\u2019 The exchange (Mecca appearing here as Becca) has to do both with preserving Qur\u2019anic precision of Design (as to the exact number of times each appears in it), as well as phonetic distinction.&nbsp;&nbsp;In this computer age there are many important findings related to this, and we\u2019ll get to them in time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Numeric and phonetic design is also considered one reason why, for example, we see the Arabic word \u2018siraat\u2019&nbsp;(\u0633\u0631\u0627\u0637)pronounced (and indeed written in the Qur\u2019an) with the letter \u2018sad\u2019(\u0635=\u0635\u0631\u0627\u0637)&nbsp;instead of the letter \u2018seen&nbsp;.(\u0633)&nbsp;&nbsp;We will be discussing phonetics\/sounds, as this subject is VERY interesting and helps us understand why self-clarifying \u2018Arabi\u2019 is the Qur\u2019an\u2019s \u2018tongue\u2019 (lissaan Arabi Mubeen &nbsp;HQ26:195).<a href=\"#_ftn5\"><sup>[5]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Indeed, God\u2019s word is Truth- May He guide us to its correct understanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">7. Verse 97 is eye-opening in that God asks Humanity to be united in worshipping Him Alone, and He states that ALL Cognizant Humans owe themselves and owe God Pilgrimage to The House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">M. Asad: \u201c\u2026..Hence, pilgrimage unto the Temple is a duty owed to God by all people who are able to undertake it\u2026.\u201d<a href=\"#_ftn6\"><sup>[6]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Y. Ali: \u201c\u2026.Pilgrimage thereto is a duty men owe to God,- those who can afford the journey\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">In Verses 98-99 the Messenger \ufdfa is told to ask the People of Previous Compilation \u201cWHY ARE YOU DENYING GOD\u201dS SIGNS..?\u201d and \u201cWHY ARE YOU BARRING OTHERS FROM GOD\u2019S PATH\u2026?\u201d \u2026 questions which expose the grievous wrongs which some of them are committing&nbsp; even as they are witnesses that he is God\u2019s Messenger! (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.altafsir.com\/ViewTranslations.asp?Display=yes&amp;SoraNo=3&amp;Ayah=99&amp;toAyah=99&amp;Language=2&amp;LanguageID=2&amp;TranslationBook=7\">See M. Asad\u2019s note<\/a>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Verse 100 closes that section and opens another, as Those Who Attained Faith are addressed and told NOT to obey a group from the People of Previous Compilation as that would cause them to return to Denial\/Disbelief!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Congratulations are in order dear Readers!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What you have gained out of this experience parallels the effort you have been putting into it,
