{"id":288,"date":"2021-01-10T23:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-01-10T19:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iqralaan.wordpress.com\/?p=288"},"modified":"2022-12-30T09:27:31","modified_gmt":"2022-12-30T05:27:31","slug":"day-32-hq-3101-115-pages-6364","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iqraprinciple.com\/ar\/day-32-hq-3101-115-pages-6364\/","title":{"rendered":"HQ 3:101-115; pages 63+64"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Welcome Friends:&nbsp; <em>Ahlan wa sahlan<\/em>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">How do you feel today?&nbsp; I feel energized!<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>COMMENTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>We touched yesterday upon Verse 100, a warning to Those Who Attained Faith who were already told in HQ3:32 (to obey) to follow the guidance of God and His Messenger, that if they (obeyed) followed the guidance of a certain faction of the People of (previous) Compilation, they would render them, after their faith, into Deniers\/Apostates.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Yusuf Ali explains (\u064a\u0637\u064a\u0639\u0648\u0627) as \u2018listen to\u2019 while Asad says \u2018pay heed.\u2019 Both have weakened the word a little.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018Obey,\u2019 means \u2018to comply with, to follow the commands and guidance of,\u2019 but they probably steered clear of that word because of the negative connotations of \u2018obedience,\u2019 obedience often spoken of as being \u2018blind.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Anyway, in comparing what the Arabic Lexicon says about ( \u0637\u0648\u0639) with the original meanings of the English<a href=\"#_ftn1\"><sup>[1]<\/sup><\/a> -I find them quite similar, so \u2018to obey\u2019 is not incorrect, but one should not take this to mean \u2018blind obedience,\u2019 but rather a <em>willing compliance<\/em> based on one\u2019s enlightened judgment of what is best.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-list\"><li>The responsibility borne by the Companions of Prophet Muhammad, peace upon him, was great (Verse 101).&nbsp; How could they Deny (Faith\/Truth) even as the Signs of God are being conveyed to them, and among them, indeed in their very midst, is His Messenger?!<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Verse 102 is better explained by Muhammad Asad, since the explanation for \u2018Taqwa\u2019 is Awareness, not \u2018fear,\u2019 so Ali\u2019s \u2018fear God\u2019 (\u0627\u062a\u0642\u0648\u0627 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647) is inaccurate.&nbsp; A more accurate rendering would be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cO you Who have attained Faith, be aware of God, as is indeed His due of (your) Awareness (towards Him), and do not die except while being Purely Reverent to Him.\u201d<\/strong> <strong>(2:132)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">As we read this verse, we remember our past reading (Blog Post Day 10) and both Abraham and Jacob\u2019s dying legacy to their children (HQ2:132):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<strong>And this did Abraham entrust unto his children, as well as Jacob: &#8220;O my children! God has chosen for you the Standard of Accountability, therefore do not die except while being Purely Reverent to Him.\u201d<\/strong> <strong>(2:132)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">If we have true faith and trust in God, we would make sure to entrust <em>our<\/em> children with this; whether we do so by living it, saying it, writing it\u2026 we MUST relay this to them in any way we can.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">If this had not been <em>crucial<\/em> we would not have found this as the final act of previous Messengers of God, and we would not have found it now in a <em>direct command from God<\/em> <em>Himself<\/em> to all Who Attained Faith!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-list\"><li>Verses 103-104 continue to address those <a>Who have attained Faith, beginning by telling them to secure themselves <\/a>(\u0627\u0639\u062a\u0635\u0645\u0648\u0627) onto what God has extended for them <a href=\"#_ftn2\"><sup>[2]<\/sup><\/a>(\u0628\u062d\u0628\u0644 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647) collectively (Y. Ali: Rope of Rescue; M. Asad: Bond) and not to drift apart.&nbsp; Then they are reminded of how God brought their minds\/hearts together and they became brethren by His Grace, after being enemies.&nbsp; And that there should grow out of them a community which invites unto Goodness, enjoins (upon its citizens) that which is mutually acceptable, and forbids that which is mutually objectionable (see Blog Post Day 20 for the characteristics of this vibrant community. Note: Verse 103 is so oft-quoted you\u2019d think we would have heeded it by now; unfortunately, we haven\u2019t).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">The verses conclude with an important statement:&nbsp; <strong>And such indeed are the Successful<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018Falaha\u2019 (\u0641\u0644\u062d) literally means to prevail, AND win or succeed.<a href=\"#_ftn3\"><sup>[3]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">(Yusuf Ali\u2019s \u2018felicity\u2019 and M. Asad\u2019s \u2018happy state\u2019 are both imprecise explanations, although Ali adds \u2018success\u2019 in his note 431, and says that it also pertains to life). &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps we should also remember that in our Call to Prayer (athaan) right after the Muethin\/Muezzin<a href=\"#_ftn4\"><sup>[4]<\/sup><\/a> calls everyone to \u2018Salaah,\u2019 he also calls them to \u2018Falaah,\u2019 to success.&nbsp; Therefore, success is indeed ingrained into our daily lives as a CONSTANT goal, sought after as often as we seek the direction of Mecca.&nbsp; So let us bring back that most important goal: Success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">We should be aware of this:&nbsp; In the above verse Qur\u2019an is talking here about SUCCESS which is primarily realized in Life.&nbsp; Succeeding in Life and in the Afterlife.&nbsp; Succeeding as a community and as individuals.&nbsp; This cannot be attained without Security in holding onto the means and tools God has extended for us (whilst knowing that He will help us achieve our noble goals when we work well for them), and Togetherness (each one of us supporting and filling in for the other when required).&nbsp; If we understood these verses we would refrain from putting one another down; it is OUR OWN security which is endangered when we hit at one another.&nbsp; The Aware are the guardians of their communities, and of Humanity at large.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Verses 105-106 are well-explained by both Y.Ali and M. Asad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-list\"><li>Verse 107-109 is better explained by Muhammad Asad.&nbsp; I prefer his rendering of the words \u2018aswad\u2019 and \u2018abyad.\u2019&nbsp; In the Arabic lexicon, these are not always related to color, but also denote the commonness of one thing and the rarity of the other.&nbsp; Two OPPOSITE States of Being.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-list\"><li>The first half of Verse 110 is commonly quoted, and considered a description of the ideal Muslim Community.&nbsp; Although it is directed to the First Community of the Faithful and says: \u2018You were..\u2019 in the past tense, many continue to explain or translate the first words as: \u2018You are..\u2019&nbsp; (including both Yusuf Ali and Muhammad Asad).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">They <strong>were<\/strong> the best community \u2018ever evolved\/brought forth\u2019 FOR (not from) mankind, which indicates that it was for the benefit of mankind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">It is a beautiful verse explained by both.&nbsp; Please read both their notes:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Y. Ali\u2019s note 434 about <em>\u201ca non-sectarian, non-racial, non-doctrinal, universal religion which Islam claims to be<\/em>.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">M. Asad\u2019s note 82 in which he says that \u201cthis promise to the followers of the Qur\u2019an is conditional\u201d and ends by saying: \u201c<em>this promise is bound to lapse whenever the Muslims fail to live up to their faith.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Amazing. We are living its lapse<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-list\"><li>Verses 111-112 describe one group among the People of earlier Compilation, those who have been degraded in life by their own deeds.&nbsp; M. Asad explains in note 83 that, in considering themselves \u2018God\u2019s chosen people,\u2019 they have in fact created a barrier between them and all other believers in One God.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">This should be a lesson for us, since many of us tend to put ourselves in our own, self-made, holier-than-thou, halos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Notice the word \u2018\u062d\u0628\u0644\u2019 appearing twice in Verse 112. We encountered it earlier today in Verse 103, about Those Who attained Faith being told to secure themselves collectively onto what God has extended for them and not to drift apart. Here the verse speaks of two ropes which might keep \u2018Deserters\/Faasiqoon\u2019 above being humiliated: What God might extend to them, and what people might extend to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Quite interesting to note that there are these two extensions which keep people from being humiliated! May we always hold onto what God has extended for us, as that is the only reliable extension!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-list\"><li>After the unpleasant description above of the negative-minded community, Verses 113-115 are absolutely beautiful in their description of those who are their exact opposites.&nbsp; Both are People of the (earlier) Compilation, but what a difference Faith and Trust makes!&nbsp; This community is upright, and observes its bonds with God and with mankind (see Asad\u2019s note 85), recites God\u2019s messages throughout the night\u2026<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Let us think of this verse when we encounter amazing, upright, God-aware People of Earlier Compilation, those to whom our message had arrived polluted by our misdeeds and our disunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cThey believe in God and the Last Day, and enjoin what is mutually acceptable and forbid what is mutually unacceptable and they advance<a href=\"#_ftn5\"><sup><strong><sup>[5]<\/sup><\/strong><\/sup><\/a> in all that is Good: and these are among the righteous (114) And whatever good they do, they shall never be denied it, for God has full knowledge of the Aware\u201d (115)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>E<\/strong>nough said!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Have a blessed week, and do catch up with us!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Our next Reading is from HQ 3:116-132.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Peace unto all!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"#_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a> \u0637\u0648\u0639: \u0627\u0644\u0625\u0635\u062d\u0627\u0628\u0650 \u0648\u0627\u0644\u0627\u0646\u0642\u064a\u0627\u062f\u0650. \u064a\u0642\u0627\u0644 \u0637\u0627\u0639\u064e\u0647 \u064a\u064e\u0637\u064f\u0648\u0639\u0647\u060c&nbsp;
