{"id":320,"date":"2021-01-24T23:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-01-24T19:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iqralaan.wordpress.com\/?p=320"},"modified":"2022-12-30T09:27:31","modified_gmt":"2022-12-30T05:27:31","slug":"welcome-friends-day-41-hq-419-26-pages-8182","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iqraprinciple.com\/ar\/welcome-friends-day-41-hq-419-26-pages-8182\/","title":{"rendered":"HQ 4:19-26, pages 81+82"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Welcome Friends:&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>Ahlan wa sahlan<\/em>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>COMMENTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">1.&nbsp; Verse 19 is addressed to <a>Those Who Attained Faith <\/a>in general, telling them that is not \u2018halaal\/unbound\/permissible\u2019 for them to inherit women under duress; the verse does not say \u2018wives\u2019 as Asad writes, but rather \u2018women\u2019 as Yusuf Ali explains.&nbsp;&nbsp;This verse is seen in two ways, either indicating that Those Who Attained Faith are forbidden to hold onto their wives under duress (when women seek to be free) so as to inherit them later on, or, that it is forbidden to treat women like chattel, <em>part<\/em>&nbsp;of an inheritance to be inherited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">The rest of the verse asks listeners not to reclaim the gifts they\u2019d given the women unless they come into evident \u2018faahisha\/sexual atrocity.\u2019&nbsp;&nbsp;Here the \u2018faahisha\u2019 is \u2018mubayyinah;\u2019 her adultery is evident and can be proven.&nbsp; The last part of verse 19 is something worth remembering:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c\u2026.Perchance you may dislike something, then God renders in it great good (for you).\u201d&nbsp; How true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">\u0641\u064e\u0639\u064e\u0633\u064e\u0649\u0670 \u0623\u064e\u0646 \u062a\u064e\u0643\u0652\u0631\u064e\u0647\u064f\u0648\u0627 \u0634\u064e\u064a\u0652\u0626\u064b\u0627 \u0648\u064e\u064a\u064e\u062c\u0652\u0639\u064e\u0644\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0644\u064e\u0651\u0640\u0647\u064f \u0641\u0650\u064a\u0647\u0650 \u062e\u064e\u064a\u0652\u0631\u064b\u0627 \u0643\u064e\u062b\u0650\u064a\u0631\u064b\u0627<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Verse 20 continues, specifying here a spousal relationship that comes to an end with a man \u2018replacing\u2019 one wife with another (literally: exchanging one wife in place of another), in which case he should not take back any gifts he had given her.&nbsp;&nbsp;Some might find the word \u2018exchange\u2019 offensive, but it does go to show that to marry someone else, a man is giving up the wife he already has so as to take another in her stead!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Verse 21 is very important in that it mentions the Solemn \u2018Covenant\u2019&nbsp;(\u0645\u064a\u062b\u0627\u0642\u0627\u064b \u063a\u0644\u064a\u0638\u0627\u064b)&nbsp;&nbsp;that Marriage is, an institution sanctified by God and not to be taken lightly. (<a href=\"http:\/\/iqrathechallenge.blogspot.com\/p\/marriage-union-sanctity-fulfillment.html\">Read&nbsp;<em>\u2018The Marriage Union: Sanctity and Fulfillment<\/em>\u2019<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">2.&nbsp;&nbsp; Verse 22 tells us of a \u2018faahisha\u2019 and an odious practice which took place before Revelation, when men used to marry the wives of their own fathers.&nbsp;&nbsp;This is not to be done from now on, but is a matter of the past if done prior to Revelation or conversion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Verse 23 lists the women who are \u2018hurrimat\u2019 made inviolable to marry, mentioning birth-mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, nieces, nursing-mothers and their daughters (who become one\u2019s sisters), mothers-in-law, daughters of women with whom one has consummated a marriage, and daughters-in-law married to one\u2019s sons.&nbsp;&nbsp;The verse finally mentions the combining of two women who happen to be sisters (being married to them both at the same time), saying that if such a combination had already been done, it is a matter of the past if prior to Revelation or conversion, and God is Most Forgiving, Unceasingly Merciful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">3.&nbsp; Verse 24 says that (also forbidden for men to marry) are the \u2018muHSanaat\u2019 (taken to mean here the already married women), except \u2018..those whom your right hands possess\/ those whom you rightfully possess (through wedlock)\u2019 Ali\/Asad.<a href=\"#_ftn1\">[1]<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Ali <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altafsir.com\/ViewTranslations.asp?Display=yes&amp;SoraNo=4&amp;Ayah=24&amp;toAyah=24&amp;Language=2&amp;LanguageID=2&amp;TranslationBook=4\">says in his note<\/a> that \u2018maa malakat aymaanukum\u2019 refers to women taken as war-captives, but he goes on to say in his original notes that these women would belong to the community and may be considered \u2018yours\u2019 in that sense.&nbsp; He also says, <em>\u201cThe slave condition is now out of date, in the true spirit of Islam.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Asad <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.altafsir.com\/ViewTranslations.asp?Display=yes&amp;SoraNo=4&amp;Ayah=24&amp;toAyah=24&amp;Language=2&amp;LanguageID=2&amp;TranslationBook=7\"><em>says in his note<\/em><\/a><em>, \u201cAs for the expression m\u0101 malakat aym\u0101nukum (\u201cthose whom your right hands possess,\u201d i.e., \u201cthose whom you rightfully possess\u201d), it is often taken to mean female slaves captured in a war in God\u2019s cause..\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps this statement could also refer to the mothers of the orphans who -if you recall- come as an addition to your household (see Blog Post Day 39).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">This verse has been explained in more than one way, but \u0645\u064e\u0627 \u0645\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0643\u064e\u062a\u0652 \u0623\u064e\u064a\u0652\u0645\u064e\u0627\u0646\u064f\u0643\u064f\u0645 literally means \u2018\u2026\u2026.that <em>which<\/em> (not whom) your rights possess\/that which your pledges retain.\u2019 &nbsp;Although the word \u2018hand\/yad\u2019 isn\u2019t mentioned, it has been understood as such by most, similar to other verses such as&nbsp; \u0648\u064e\u0645\u064e\u0627 \u062a\u0650\u0644\u0652\u0643\u064e \u0628\u0650\u064a\u064e\u0645\u0650\u064a\u0646\u0650\u0643\u064e \u064a\u064e\u0627 \u0645\u064f\u0648\u0633\u064e\u0649\u0670 \ufd3f\u0637\u0647: 20:17\ufd3e where Moses is asked, \u201c<em>And what is that in your right (hand) O Moses?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Here the women\u2019s dower is considered a \u2018fareedha\u2019 (for definition see last posting).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">It is interesting to note that \u2018muHSan\u2019 is a woman literally \u2018fortified,\u2019 either by both her own chastity and self-determination (freedom) combined, or by being in wedlock.&nbsp;&nbsp;In this verse it is taken to mean that she is fortified by wedlock, and in the next verse she is fortified by her own freedom, ie. self-fortified!<a href=\"#_ftn2\">[2]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">3.&nbsp; Verse 25 indicates that those who cannot afford to marry from the \u2018muHSanaat\u2019 self-fortified free women, could marry Faithful girls from their community (who \u2018belong\u2019 to someone), as long as they do it with permission from the girls\u2019 families, NOT in fornication or in secret.&nbsp;&nbsp;Here the word \u2018Faithful\u2019 isn\u2019t a God-given earned title, but rather, indicates that \u2018faithful\u2019 is how the suitable marriageable girls should come across, which might or might not be true, for God Alone Knows who deserves that title.&nbsp; Hence the interjected statement, <strong>\u201cAnd God (Alone) Knows about your faith.\u2019<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">During times of slavery, an unmarried slave-girl was contrary to a \u2018muHSanah.\u2019&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps the most enlightening part of this verse today is its ending, which indicates that if such \u2018non-fortified\u2019 girls become wives and commit a \u2018faahisha\/pervasive sexual atrocity\/adultery,\u2019 they would get half the suffering of \u2018self-fortified\u2019 free women.&nbsp; THIS IS A CRUCIAL DETAIL to remember because Suratul Noor, 24:2, allots 100 lashes for \u2018self-fortified\u2019 free women who are proven by 4 witnesses to be adulteresses. That would mean that these girls, if they commit adultery, would get 50 lashes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Read M. Asad\u2019s notes 30-34.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">5.&nbsp;&nbsp;Verse 26 begins by telling us God\u2019s purpose in sending us all these verses:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Yusuf Ali:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cGod does wish to make clear to you and to show you the ordinances of those before you and He does wish to turn to you (in Mercy) and God is All-Knowing, Wise.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Muhammad Asad\u2019s note 35 tells us: \u201cThis is an allusion to the&nbsp;<em>genuine<\/em>&nbsp;religious teachings of the past, which aimed at bringing about a harmony between man\u2019s physical nature and the demands of his spirit\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Enough said!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tomorrow\u2019s Reading is from HQ4:27-37.<\/strong><strong>Peace unto all!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"#_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a> \u064a\u0645\u0646: \u0641\u0627\u0644\u064a\u064e\u0645\u064a\u0646: \u064a\u064e\u0645\u064a\u0646 \u0627\u0644\u064a\u064e\u062f\u0650.
