{"id":371,"date":"2021-03-21T23:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-03-21T19:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iqralaan.wordpress.com\/?p=371"},"modified":"2022-12-30T09:27:32","modified_gmt":"2022-12-30T05:27:32","slug":"welcome-friends-day-56-hq5-18-31-pages-111112","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iqraprinciple.com\/ar\/welcome-friends-day-56-hq5-18-31-pages-111112\/","title":{"rendered":"HQ 5:18-31, pages 111+112"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Welcome Friends:&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>Ahlan wa sahlan<\/em>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong>COMMENTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong>1.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong>The first verse in today\u2019s Reading starts out by responding to the allegation,&nbsp;<em>\u201cWe are God\u2019s children and His beloved!\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;&nbsp;The verse was, at the time,&nbsp; in response to the allegation made by Jews and Christians, but it responds to many today who might have the same inflated opinion of themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">The Qur\u2019an tells Prophet Muhammad, peace upon him, to respond by asking:\u00a0<strong>\u201cThen why does He mete out to you suffering by your misdeeds?\u00a0\u00a0No, you are human beings (of the \u2018bashar\u2019 species) of those He has created. He forgives whom He wills and metes out suffering to whom He Wills,\u00a0and to God belongs the dominion of Heavens and Earth and all in between and to Him is the Conclusion.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;In Verse 19 comes the second of five calls <em>\u201cO People of the (earlier) Compilation!\u201d<\/em> in this (\u2018The Repast\u2019) Chapter:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">God calls upon them here saying that His Messenger has come to them -after an interval without messengers- to counter any argument they might have made, to the effect that they received neither a Bearer of glad tidings nor a Warner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">3.&nbsp;&nbsp;Verses 20-21 return us to Moses and his trials with his people, first introduced in this chapter (The Repast) in verses 12-13.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Here, Moses, peace upon him, reminds them of God\u2019s favor in that he rendered from amongst them Prophets and independent Rulers, and granted them (at the time) what none other on earth had been granted.&nbsp;&nbsp;He tells them to enter the Holy Land which God has<em>&nbsp;\u2019kataba\u2019 \u2018<\/em><em>compiled<\/em><em>\/<\/em>brought together\u2019 for them.&nbsp;&nbsp;Understanding these words is very important, especially with all that has -and is- going on politically, which we shall do our best NOT to discuss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><em>In relation to the word \u2018kataba\u2019 in this verse, we remember that \u2018Kataba\u2019 means to bring parts together (to compile) to&nbsp;form a unit, or \u2018Kitaab.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">However, it is important to know that, with regard to people, God either \u2018compiles\/puts together\u2019 something \u2018UPON \u0639\u0644\u064a\u0643\u0645 \/\u0639\u2019alaykum &#8211;&nbsp;\u2019 them, OR \u2018puts together\u2019 \u2018FOR-&nbsp;\u0644\u0643\u0645 \/lakum\u2019 them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;When it is \u2018upon\u2019 someone, it usually is a unit of accountability\/responsibility, as in fasting the month of Ramadan (<a href=\"https:\/\/tanzil.net\/#search\/quran\/%22%D9%83%D8%AA%D8%A8%20%D8%B9%D9%84%D9%8A%D9%83%D9%85%22\">see Tanzil: \u201c\u0643\u062a\u0628 \u0639\u0644\u064a\u0643\u0645\u201d).<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;When it is \u2018for\u2019 someone, it is a unit of exemption\/privilege, as in spouses being granted the privilege of enjoying marital relations in Ramadan&nbsp;<em>solely<\/em>&nbsp;during the night (<a href=\"https:\/\/tanzil.net\/#search\/quran\/%22%D9%83%D8%AA%D8%A8%20%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%84%D9%87%20%D9%84%D9%83%D9%85%22\">see in Tanzil: \u201c\u0643\u062a\u0628 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0644\u0643\u0645\u201d<\/a> which will show you that this expression appears only twice in the Qur\u2019an, in HQ2:187, and here in 5:21).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">As understood therefore, God had \u2018put together\u2019 FOR them everything leading up to their acquisition of the land, which would be theirs as a privilege&nbsp;<em>should<\/em>&nbsp;they do&nbsp;<em>their<\/em>&nbsp;part in following His direction and accessing it.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Y. Ali and M. Asad translate:&nbsp;<em>God has \u2018assigned for you\/God has promised you<\/em>,\u2019 respectively.&nbsp;&nbsp;Besides being laden with Biblical connotation to which the Qur\u2019an does NOT concur, <strong>\u2018Promised\u2019 is an inaccurate translation!<\/strong><br>\u2018Promised\u2019 in Arabic is \u2018wa\u0639ada\u2019- \u0648\u064e\u0639\u064e\u062f\u064e- as we saw in yesterday\u2019s Posting, verse 9.&nbsp; Although Muhammad Asad translated it correctly then, in today\u2019s posting he mistranslated it.&nbsp; I cannot repeat often enough:&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>Translation that is true to the original is CRUCIAL in correctly understanding Qur\u2019anic intent!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">On a lighter note, let us keep in mind the meaning of the word \u2018kataba\u2019, and read the following from HQ9:50-51, in context.&nbsp;&nbsp;Please note the beauty of what the second verse indicates.&nbsp;&nbsp;Many of us traditionally take this verse negatively &#8211; notice how positive it really is!<a href=\"#_ftn1\">[1]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong>\u201cIf Good befalls you it grieves them, but if Misfortune befalls you they say, we have already taken our precautions, and they turn away rejoicing. (50)<\/strong> <em><strong>Say: Nothing will ever befall us <\/strong><\/em><em>(of good)<strong> except what God has compiled\/brought together FOR us; He is our Protector, and on God should the Faithful rely\u201d (51)<\/strong><\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">\u0625\u0650\u0646 \u062a\u064f\u0635\u0650\u0628\u0652\u0643\u064e \u062d\u064e\u0633\u064e\u0646\u064e\u0629\u064c \u062a\u064e\u0633\u064f\u0624\u0652\u0647\u064f\u0645\u0652&nbsp;\u06d6&nbsp;\u0648\u064e\u0625\u0650\u0646 \u062a\u064f\u0635\u0650\u0628\u0652\u0643\u064e \u0645\u064f\u0635\u0650\u064a\u0628\u064e\u0629\u064c \u064a\u064e\u0642\u064f\u0648\u0644\u064f\u0648\u0627 \u0642\u064e\u062f\u0652 \u0623\u064e\u062e\u064e\u0630\u0652\u0646\u064e\u0627 \u0623\u064e\u0645\u0652\u0631\u064e\u0646\u064e\u0627 \u0645\u0650\u0646 \u0642\u064e\u0628\u0652\u0644\u064f \u0648\u064e\u064a\u064e\u062a\u064e\u0648\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0651\u0648\u0627 \u0648\u064e\u0651\u0647\u064f\u0645\u0652 \u0641\u064e\u0631\u0650\u062d\u064f\u0648\u0646\u064e&nbsp;\ufd3f\u0665\u0660\ufd3e<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">\u0642\u064f\u0644 \u0644\u064e\u0651\u0646 \u064a\u064f\u0635\u0650\u064a\u0628\u064e\u0646\u064e\u0627 \u0625\u0650\u0644\u064e\u0651\u0627 \u0645\u064e\u0627 \u0643\u064e\u062a\u064e\u0628\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0644\u064e\u0651\u0640\u0647\u064f \u0644\u064e\u0646\u064e\u0627 \u0647\u064f\u0648\u064e \u0645\u064e\u0648\u0652\u0644\u064e\u0627\u0646\u064e\u0627&nbsp;\u06da&nbsp;\u0648\u064e\u0639\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0649 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u064e\u0651\u0640\u0647\u0650 \u0641\u064e\u0644\u0652\u064a\u064e\u062a\u064e\u0648\u064e\u0643\u064e\u0651\u0644\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0652\u0645\u064f\u0624\u0652\u0645\u0650\u0646\u064f\u0648\u0646\u064e&nbsp;\ufd3f\u0665\u0661\ufd3e<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">4.&nbsp;&nbsp;Verses 22-26 discuss Moses\u2019 trial with his people, their general reluctance to follow his command, despite being encouraged to rely on God by a few people of knowledge amongst them.&nbsp;&nbsp;We then hear their famous exclamation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong>\u201c..Go forth, you and your Lord and fight (both of you).&nbsp;We shall right here stay (put).\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Verse 25 tells us of Moses\u2019 frustration, and his prayer to be relieved of his people.&nbsp;&nbsp;Verse 26 tells us how their entry into that land, which could have been straightforward, was forbidden to them as a result of their disobedience, and they wandered across the earth for 40 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><em>5.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/em>In&nbsp;Verses 27-29 God commands Prophet Muhammad, peace upon him, to tell the People of (earlier) Compilation the story of the two sons of Adam (who are unnamed in the Qur\u2019an, but whom most call: Cain and Abel).&nbsp;&nbsp;This is considered the first-ever murder among humans, brought about as a result of jealousy.&nbsp;&nbsp;Both brothers had offered sacrifices, but only the sacrifice of one brother (Abel) was accepted.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">When \u2018Cain\u2019 threatened to kill \u2018Abel,\u2019 the latter explained that God only accepts the deeds\/offerings of the Aware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><em>This is, by the way, a valid statement we should all remember!&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/em>It also&nbsp;affirms the concept that our awareness is what validates our deeds\/offerings in God\u2019s Sight (HQ22:37):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">\u201c<strong>Neither their meat nor their blood will reach God, but indeed what will reach Him is the Awareness on your part: He has thus made them subject to you, that ye may glorify God for His Guidance to you and proclaim the good news to all who do deeds of goodness. (37)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">\u0644\u0646 \u064a\u064e\u0646\u064e\u0627\u0644\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0644\u064e\u0651\u0640\u0647\u064e \u0644\u064f\u062d\u064f\u0648\u0645\u064f\u0647\u064e\u0627 \u0648\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0627 \u062f\u0650\u0645\u064e\u0627\u0624\u064f\u0647\u064e\u0627 \u0648\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0640\u0670\u0643\u0650\u0646 \u064a\u064e\u0646\u064e\u0627\u0644\u064f\u0647\u064f \u0627\u0644\u062a\u064e\u0651\u0642\u0652\u0648\u064e\u0649\u0670 \u0645\u0650\u0646\u0643\u064f\u0645\u0652&nbsp;\u06da \u0643\u064e\u0630\u064e\u0670\u0644\u0650\u0643\u064e \u0633\u064e\u062e\u064e\u0651\u0631\u064e\u0647\u064e\u0627 \u0644\u064e\u0643\u064f\u0645\u0652 \u0644\u0650\u062a\u064f\u0643\u064e\u0628\u0650\u0651\u0631\u064f\u0648\u0627 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u064e\u0651\u0640\u0647\u064e \u0639\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0649\u0670 \u0645\u064e\u0627 \u0647\u064e\u062f\u064e\u0627\u0643\u064f\u0645\u0652&nbsp; \u0648\u064e\u0628\u064e\u0634\u0650\u0651\u0631\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0652\u0645\u064f\u062d\u0652\u0633\u0650\u0646\u0650\u064a\u0646\u064e \ufd3f\u0663\u0667\ufd3e<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">6.&nbsp;&nbsp;In Verse 28, the brother who was aware announces that, even in self-defense, he would not extend his&nbsp;arm towards his brother for he fears God, the Lord-Sustainer of all the Worlds.&nbsp;&nbsp;Neither is explicitly labeled \u2018aggressor\u2019 or \u2018aware,\u2019 yet we know their label from context. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">In Verse 29, the aware brother warns the aggressor of what his aggression would incur; he would have to bear the failings\/hindrances of both, and become a companion of the Fire, for that is the reward of the Wrongdoers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><em>This verse seems to indicate that any Aggressor who kills <\/em><em>someone else would thus be recompensed,&nbsp;bearing the shortcomings and hindrances of both.&nbsp;&nbsp;The victim on the other hand, having suffered the gravest injustice, would be absolved of all his shortcomings.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/em>See notes of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altafsir.com\/ViewTranslations.asp?Display=yes&amp;SoraNo=5&amp;Ayah=29&amp;toAyah=29&amp;Language=2&amp;LanguageID=2&amp;TranslationBook=4\">Yusuf Ali; <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altafsir.com\/ViewTranslations.asp?Display=yes&amp;SoraNo=5&amp;Ayah=29&amp;toAyah=29&amp;Language=2&amp;LanguageID=2&amp;TranslationBook=7\">Muhammad Asad.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">7.&nbsp;&nbsp;The final part of our Reading, verses 30-31 tell us that the aggressor did, in fact, kill his aware brother, and became one of the Losers.&nbsp;&nbsp;Only when God sent a raven, scraping the earth to show the aggressor how to conceal his brother\u2019s vulnerability \u2018saw\u2019ah\/\u0633\u0648\u0621\u0629&nbsp;<a href=\"#_ftn2\">[2]<\/a>&nbsp; did he fully realize what he had done.&nbsp;&nbsp;He cried out woefully, realizing how debilitated he had been (and possibly that his jealousy had blinded his better instincts), in comparison to the raven who had shown him what to do.&nbsp;&nbsp;He became one of the Remorseful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><em>&nbsp;\u2018Taqwa\u2019<\/em><em> \u062a\u0642\u0648\u0649<\/em><em> <\/em><em>IS, after all, the opposite of <\/em><em>\u2018<\/em><em>Udwaan\u2019<\/em>&#8230;.\u0639\u062f\u0648\u0627\u0646 !<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Enough said!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong>Our next Reading is from HQ5: 32-41<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong>Peace unto all!<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><a href=\"#_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a> Many have missed the preposition here! When the word \u2018kataba\u2019 is followed by \u2018for\/li\u0644\u0650\/\u2019 it is strictly about something positive taking place, as in the above verse clearly being about God \u2018compiling\u2019 something FOR our benefit; elements of goodness that come together for us, and not upon us.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><a href=\"#_ftnref2\">[2]<\/a> The term \u201csaw\u2019ah\u201d is also related to <a href=\"https:\/\/tanzil.net\/#search\/quran\/%D8%A8%D8%AF%D8%AA%20%D9%84%D9%87%D9%85%D8%A7\">these verses (HQ7:22; 20:121) about Adam and his spouse<\/a>, which we shall be studying in future.&nbsp; For now, just note that it is the same word.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome Friends:&nbsp;&nbsp;Ahlan wa sahlan!
