{"id":401,"date":"2021-06-06T23:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-06-06T19:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iqralaan.wordpress.com\/?p=401"},"modified":"2022-12-30T09:27:32","modified_gmt":"2022-12-30T05:27:32","slug":"day-64-hq5-111-hq66-pages-127128","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iqraprinciple.com\/ar\/day-64-hq5-111-hq66-pages-127128\/","title":{"rendered":"HQ 5:111- HQ 6:6, pages 127+128"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Welcome Friends:&nbsp; <em>Ahlan wa sahlan<\/em>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">This section is full of important lessons and insight, quite relevant to our own circumstances!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong>COMMENTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>Today we discuss the story of \u2018The Table-spread\/Repast,\u2019 and conclude the Chapter by that name.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">After we were introduced in our last Reading to the questioning of Messengers in the Hereafter, peace upon them all, our focus was brought to Jesus.&nbsp; God reminded him of His many Favors to him and to his mother, in a long list in verse 110.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Verse 111 says that God <em>conveyed exclusive information<\/em> to the Disciples of Jesus (awHa-<strong>\u0623\u0648\u062d\u0649<\/strong>), instructing them to have faith in Him in His Messenger; Ali and Asad translate the word as \u2018inspired.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">They responded in acknowledgment that they had attained faith and trust, and were indeed \u2018Muslimoon,\u2019 asking Jesus to bear witness to their assertion. (Here we recall that being \u2018Muslim\u2019 refers both to conviction and conduct.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-list\"><li>But then verse 112 tells us <em>what<\/em> these Disciples asked Jesus, peace upon him, and our ears prick to the unconcerned detachment in the words, <em>\u2018Your Rabb\u2019 <\/em>(YOUR Lord- \u0631\u0628\u0651\u0643, reminding us of their forefathers who had frustrated Moses, peace upon him, generations ago, and used the same words in Q 5:24 when they said:<strong><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong>\u201c..Go forth, you and <u>your<\/u> Lord and fight (both of you).&nbsp; We shall right here stay (put).\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">See <a href=\"https:\/\/iqralaan.wordpress.com\/2021\/03\/21\/welcome-friends-day-56-hq5-18-31-pages-111112\/\">Blog Post Day 56<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Here, the disciples said \u201cO Jesus, Son of Mary, could \u2018your\u2019 Lord send down unto us a \u2018Table-spread\/Repast\u2019 from heaven?\u201d&nbsp; Jesus, peace upon him, immediately responded with: \u201c..Be Aware of God, if you are indeed Faithful!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">In verse 113 they explain their 4 reasons to him: They want to eat of it; to rest\/reassure their hearts\/minds; to ascertain that Jesus was indeed true to them; to be witnesses of such (a miracle).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-list\"><li>Verse 114 showcases Jesus\u2019 beautiful request, peace upon him, standing in amazing contrast to his disciples\u2019 earlier wording.&nbsp; He does not ask God as \u2018Allah,\u2019 or \u2018My\u2019 Lord, but rather says, \u2018Allaahumma, Rabbana, Our Lord!\u2019 (\u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647\u0645 \u0631\u0628\u0646\u0627).&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">It is helpful for us to try addressing our Lord as He addresses Himself in the Qur\u2019an in the voices of those who have gained His Redha\/His \u2018Good pleasure.\u2019&nbsp; Doing so, we note that when worshippers praise God in the Qur\u2019an, <a href=\"https:\/\/tanzil.net\/#search\/quran\/%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%84%D9%87%D9%85\">they call upon Him as Allaahumma<\/a>, whereas when they ask Him for anything (beseeching or pleading), <a href=\"https:\/\/tanzil.net\/#search\/quran\/%22%D8%B1%D8%A8%D9%86%D8%A7%22\">they say \u2018Rabbana\/our Lord<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">This detail is quite telling:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">When He is beseeched in the Qur\u2019an, it is by invoking the relationship one has with Him as one\u2019s \u2018Rabb\u2019 (Sustainer and provider from inception to completion), rather than by calling upon Him by the Divine Utterance, \u2018Allah,\u2019 or by one of His Attributes\/Asmaa.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">We are of course free to call upon God as Allah or Al RaHmaan to Whom belong all the beautiful Attributes (Q.17:110),<a href=\"#_ftn1\"><sup>[1]<\/sup><\/a> but in the Qur\u2019an we don\u2019t see anyone beseeching Him like that, perhaps because He is showing us that He responds to our plea simply because<em> He is THE Rabb<\/em> <em>Who takes care of all who are under His care <\/em>(even the <a href=\"https:\/\/tanzil.net\/#40:7\">Custodians\/Angels (Q.40:7)<\/a> when beseeching Him on our behalf call him \u2018Rabbana\u2019).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">In the verses we\u2019re studying now we noted that Jesus, peace upon him, does not ask God as \u2018Allah,\u2019 or \u2018My\u2019 Lord, but rather combines both together beautifully, saying Allaahumma Rabbana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">We also note the beautiful reasons he gives for such a plea, with no mention at all of the reasons his disciples had put forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">He asks this so that the table-spread would become a festive occasion for them, to be oft-commemorated (a Eid -(\u0639\u064a\u062f\u0627\u064b &nbsp;for the first and last of them, a Sign from God Himself, and then he asks God to provide them of His Bounty, for He is the Best of Providers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">How well-stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Verse 115 contains God\u2019s response to the Disciples\u2019 request, which comes at a high price:&nbsp; He says that He will indeed send it unto them, but that whoever denies after this shall receive a suffering never received by any other human\/ any other creature in all the worlds!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Some commentators indicate that the Disciples may have pulled back their request after this warning, but most seem to think that it was indeed granted (Zamakhshari).&nbsp; This seems to tell us that the more Signs we are given the more responsible we are!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">See Yusuf Ali\u2019s note related to Verse 112.&nbsp; He sees in the disciples\u2019 request a \u2018want of faith,\u2019 and quotes from the Canonical Gospels.&nbsp; Asad\u2019s related notes go into greater detail, explaining almost every word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-list\"><li>Verses 116-118 offer the most eloquent conclusion to a Chapter which discusses Christian belief:&nbsp; In a glimpse into the Hereafter where God addresses each Messenger as to how his followers responded to him.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Listen to verse 116:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong>\u201cAnd Lo! God said, O Jesus son of Mary is it You who told people, \u2018Take me and my mother as two Gods instead of God\u2019?&nbsp; He said, \u201cGlory to You, it is not for me to say what is not mine by right!&nbsp; If I had said it, You would already know it; You know what is in my Self and I do not know what is in Your Self, You, Alone, are the Knower of all matters beyond perception!\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Jesus\u2019 response, this time too, is as full of awareness, and is as beautiful and as inclusive as ever.&nbsp; In the next verses he asserts that he in fact, had told them ONLY what God had commanded him to say, and that his knowledge is limited to the response he witnessed from the people he lived with, and that he does not know what they may have done after God had taken him <em>consummately<\/em> (in his entirety- from the verb \u2018waffa\u2019 (\u0648\u0641\u0651\u0649- meaning to render something \u2018in full,\u2019 as in a debt, a term, etc.<a href=\"#_ftn2\"><sup>[2]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">ASIDE:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">In the Qur\u2019an we have two words that are commonly understood as \u2018death,\u2019 the first is \u2018mawt\u2019 (\u0645\u0648\u062a), and the second is \u2018wafaat\u2019 (\u0648\u0641\u0627\u0629).&nbsp; But having activated the IQRA Principle dear Readers, we know that these two are NOT synonymous!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Everything that is alive shall taste death \u2018mawt\u2019, as in HQ39:42, and there are many verses describing the earth being brought to life after it was \u2018dead.\u2019&nbsp; Also, as in HQ35:22, those who pay no heed to warning or revelation are considered \u2018dead.\u2019&nbsp; \u2018Mawt\/death\u2019 has \u2018Hayaat\/life\u2019 as its opposite, and seems to indicate the demise of physical entities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">\u2018Wafaat,\u2019 on the other hand, is not about \u2018death\u2019 the opposite of \u2018life,\u2019 but rather about something \u2018consumed\/returned\u2019 in full.&nbsp; When we borrow money, we do the \u2018wafaa\u2019 of that loan, perhaps in stages, until finally that loan has been \u2018consummated\u2019 in full.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">We do have some clues regarding \u2018wafaat\u2019 in &nbsp;HQ. 39:42, where sleep seems to represent a certain degree\/stage of that journey:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Our bodies are not only alive when we sleep, but they are fully alive, even regenerating on the cellular level, reinforcing our cardiovascular and immune systems and helping regulate metabolism&nbsp; When we sleep it is our consciousness\/cognizance\/the Self \u2018nafs,\u2019 which has been partially -not fully- separated from the body and \u2018taken\u2019 to God in partial consummation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Now, there will come a time for all Cognizant Humans when our Selves (\u2018anfus,\u2019 plural of \u2018nafs\u2019) will be rendered in full to God.&nbsp; That is the time of <em><u>consummate&nbsp; deliverance of each nafs<\/u><\/em> by the Angel\/s of Death, or by God, into our higher level of existence.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">All the connotations of the word \u2018waffa- \u0648\u0641\u0651\u0649\u2019 denote complete consummation, returning the complete sum of something.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">So while \u2018mawt\u2019 describes the physical part, \u2018wafaat\u2019 seems to describe the sum, returned in its entirety.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">This piece of information helps us better understand \u2018near-death\u2019 experiences, and even perhaps how Jesus -by \u2018God\u2019s ithn\/declaration\u2019- raised the \u2018mawtaa\/dead.\u2019&nbsp; The person he revived had been \u2018dead\u2019 physically, then when brought back to life had a chance to finish his days on earth until God brings about his \u2018wafaat.\u2019&nbsp; With \u2018wafaat\u2019 a \u2018Self\u2019 would be consummated\/returned to God, and nothing would ever bring it back to this lowly life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Allaahu-a\u2019lam\u2026 God knows best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Perhaps \u2018wafaat\u2019 consists of <em>both<\/em> the consummation of our bodies to their earthly foundation, together with the consummation of our cognizant Selves to their Divine Source, their Creator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">\u0625\u0646\u0627 \u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0648\u0625\u0646\u0627 \u0625\u0644\u064a\u0647 \u0631\u0627\u062c\u0639\u0648\u0646 We are God\u2019s and unto Him we shall return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-list\"><li>At any rate, Jesus peace upon him, ends (verse 118) by acknowledging that his followers, whatever they may have done after his departure, are in the end God\u2019s \u2018worshippers\u2019 (\u0639\u0628\u0627\u062f), and God Alone can cause them to suffer or He can forgive them.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Interestingly though, after mentioning the word \u2018forgive\u2019 he does NOT end by saying (what we have learned to expect in the Qur\u2019an) that \u2018God is Oft-Forgiving and most Merciful, but rather that God Is Almighty, Wise.&nbsp; This finale points to the gravity of their allegation, and to Jesus\u2019 full realization of its significance, peace upon him!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Do listen to these verses in Arabic; your heart will melt at the purity and reverence in Jesus\u2019 words, may God\u2019s peace and blessings be upon him and all God\u2019s Messengers. &nbsp;Also, when we realize that this is God Himself conveying a narrative to us regarding a conversation between Himself and Jesus, no words can express the humbleness we feel at being recipients of God\u2019s Final Message on one hand, and the trepidation at one day having to face God ourselves for questioning on the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-list\"><li>Verses 119-120 conclude this scene at the Hereafter, with God Himself announcing that this is a Day when the power of genuineness<a href=\"#_ftn3\"><sup>[3]<\/sup><\/a> (in Faith, in Honesty etc..)&nbsp; shall be of benefit to the strongly Genuine,<a href=\"#_ftn4\"><sup>[4]<\/sup><\/a> for whom there are gardens beneath which rivers flow eternally, well-pleased Is God with them and WELL-PLEASED ARE THEY WITH HIM, and THAT is the supreme Deliverance\/Salvation.&nbsp; (Asad translates \u2018fawz\u2019 (\u0641\u0648\u0632) as triumph, which is the common understanding of the word, but Ali\u2019s translation is better.)<sup> <a href=\"#_ftn5\"><sup>[5]<\/sup><\/a><\/sup>&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">This beautiful description of the Hereafter, where those who were Genuine shall be <em>\u2018well-pleased with God\u2019<\/em> is truly unbelievable (also in HQ9:100; 58:22; 98:8)!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">The Chapter\/Sura concludes with the assertion that to God belongs absolutely everything, and His is all power over it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong>\u0633\u0648\u0631\u0629 \u0627\u0644\u0623\u0646\u0639\u0627\u0645<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-list\"><li>After finishing the four longest chapters in the Qur\u2019an, all of which were of the Medina Period, we now start on a chapter of the Mecca Period.&nbsp; Readers will soon notice the different tone and subject-matter, and will recall the hostile atmosphere of Idolatrous Qureish and the different challenges facing the Faithful at this earlier stage of Revelation.&nbsp; Al An\u2019aam is translated as \u2018the Cattle.\u2019<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">The Chapter starts by acknowledging that praise is due to God for the creation of the Heavens, the earth, the darkness-es and the Light, immediately pointing out the short-sightedness of \u2018Those who Denied\u2019 in their associating partners with The Creator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Verse 2 speaks of His creation of mankind from earth-matter, decreeing a term known to Him, yet <strong>you<\/strong> doubt (notice transfer of address from third to second person).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Verse 3 continues its address in second person, saying that He is God in the Exalted Expanses and in the earth, He knows <strong>your<\/strong> secret and <strong>your<\/strong> revealed and He knows what <strong>you<\/strong> earn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Verses 5 and 6 are timeless.&nbsp; They speak to people of falsehood and injustice, warning those who belie Truth &amp; Justice and even mock it, telling them to look back at previous generations that had walked this earth: Although many such generations were better established in the earth than they are, with skies that had rained generously upon them, and rivers that had swelled and flowed beneath them, despite their power and wealth, it was by their own misdeeds that God broke them down.<a href=\"#_ftn6\"><sup>[6]<\/sup><\/a> After that, He let others rise to take their place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">These verses seem to spell out how the strongest of empires on this earth inevitably fall, giving us a clue as to our own past and serving as a warning to all the \u2018powers\u2019 that be today to be aware of committing aggression whatever form it might take:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong><em>You shall be broken down by your own misdeeds!&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Enough said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong>Our next Reading is from HQ6: 7- 26<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong>Peace unto all!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><a href=\"#_ftnref1\"><\/a>\u0642\u064f\u0644\u0650 \u0627\u062f\u0652\u0639\u064f\u0648\u0627 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u064e\u0651\u0647\u064e \u0623\u064e\u0648\u0650 \u0627\u062f\u0652\u0639\u064f\u0648\u0627 \u0627\u0644\u0631\u064e\u0651\u062d\u0652\u0645\u064e\u0640\u0670\u0646\u064e \u0623\u064e\u064a\u064b\u0651\u0627 \u0645\u064e\u0651\u0627 \u062a\u064e\u062f\u0652\u0639\u064f\u0648\u0627 \u0641\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0647\u064f \u0627\u0644\u0652\u0623\u064e\u0633\u0652\u0645\u064e\u0627\u0621\u064f \u0627\u0644\u0652\u062d\u064f\u0633\u0652\u0646\u064e\u0649\u0670 \u0648\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0627 \u062a\u064e\u062c\u0652\u0647\u064e\u0631\u0652 \u0628\u0650\u0635\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0627\u062a\u0650\u0643\u064e \u0648\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0627 \u062a\u064f\u062e\u064e\u0627\u0641\u0650\u062a\u0652 \u0628\u0650\u0647\u064e\u0627 \u0648\u064e\u0627\u0628\u0652\u062a\u064e\u063a\u0650 \u0628\u064e\u064a\u0652\u0646\u064e \u0630\u064e\u0670\u0644\u0650\u0643\u064e \u0633\u064e\u0628\u0650\u064a\u0644\u064b\u0627 \u200e\ufd3f\u0627\u0644\u0625\u0633\u0631\u0627\u0621: \u0661\u0661\u0660\ufd3e\u200f [1]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><a href=\"#_ftnref2\">[2]<\/a> It is interesting to learn a little more about the word \u2018wafaat\u2019 (\u0648\u0641\u0627\u0629) usually translated as \u2018death,\u2019 similar to the word \u2018mawt\u2019 (\u0645\u0648\u062a).&nbsp;
