{"id":416,"date":"2021-09-12T23:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-09-12T19:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iqralaan.wordpress.com\/?p=416"},"modified":"2022-12-30T09:27:32","modified_gmt":"2022-12-30T05:27:32","slug":"welcome-friends-day-69-hq674-90-pages-137138","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iqraprinciple.com\/ar\/welcome-friends-day-69-hq674-90-pages-137138\/","title":{"rendered":"HQ 6:74-90, pages 137+138"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Welcome Friends:&nbsp; <em>Ahlan wa sahlan<\/em>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Before we start today, I must point out that reading these posts alone does NOT constitute a \u2018Qur\u2019anic\u2019 Reading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Please read the Qur\u2019an interpretation (Yusuf Ali\/ Muhammad Asad) which this discussion is about, and IF POSSIBLE, you must read the 2 pages we are discussing from the Arabi Qur\u2019an itself.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">The Qur\u2019an Blog of 2010 was originally intended to highlight and clarify what was already available in Yusuf Ali and Muhammad Asad\u2019s explanations; it was never considered sufficient on its own.&nbsp; Although I tried to provide ample information, I was doing so within a limited number of hours spent on each Posting.&nbsp; This meant that I had to be brief when the verses were well-explained or clear in themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Now, in 2021, I am revising my thoughts and explanations based on new research and understanding.&nbsp; Revision is a \u2018must\u2019 in any human endeavor!&nbsp; I learnt that from our beloved Prophet\u2019s 10-year validity of his Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, peace upon him. It\u2019s like a person looking inward at a previous version of one\u2019s thoughts, understanding, and decisions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Ten years makes for new knowledge and experiences, and also: A new generation! A new generation performing IQRA! with the older generation who strives to maintain IQRA!&nbsp; in \u2018the aan\u2019\u2026!!&nbsp; When IQRA! becomes a priority we will never sense a \u2018generational gap.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Please make this venture successful FOR YOURSELF by committing to your part as a Reader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">You must spend a reasonable amount of time and effort daily so as to be able to continue for the lo-oooong haul and crown your endeavors by having completed a turn of IQRA! through the entire Qur\u2019an!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">(I say \u2018A\u2019 turn because IQRA! is a beautiful, lifelong mission, where one turn ends you might start another, each more enlightening and fulfilling.&nbsp; Sisters who were with us in 2010 -and are with us now- will vouch for that!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>COMMENTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Today\u2019s verses provide listeners another angle from which they could reflect upon their Creator as well as their relationship with Him (or -being shortsighted- their perceived <em>lack<\/em> of it).&nbsp; What we shall read below is more insightful when understood together with the powerful verses in our past Reading!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Today\u2019s Reading is mostly about <a>Prophet Abraham<\/a> and his Reasoning, peace upon him.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">First, he reasons within himself, and then he attempts to reason with his father and his people.<a href=\"#_ftn1\"><sup>[1]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Prophet Abraham is, after all, the one whom the Qur\u2019an praises in HQ37:84, saying:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cWhen <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/tanzil.net\/#37:84\"><strong>he came to His Lord with a sound heart\/mind<\/strong><\/a><strong>.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>In Verse 74 Prophet Abraham first speaks to his father, his immediate area of concern, as our loved ones should be for us.<a href=\"#_ftn2\"><sup>[2]<\/sup><\/a> Notice that he first posed him a question, to which his father must have responded (even with silence!).&nbsp; Then Abraham continued, stating that both his father, and his father\u2019s people, were evidently astray\/in loss.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Verse 75 shows us how God helped Abraham observe His \u2018Malakoot,\u2019 meaning His complete Domination over His Dominion, the superlative word \u2018Malakoot\u2019 being an amplified, exalted form of the more common noun \u2018Mulk.\u2019 It serves to highlight the fact that all The \u2018Mulk\/Dominion\u2019 is in His Power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Zamakhshari says that the word \u2018Malakoot\u2019 is about God\u2019s Domination over the Exalted Expanses and the Earth both as Lord-Sustainer \u2013\u2018Ruboobiyyah\/\u0631\u0628\u0648\u0628\u064a\u0651\u0629\u2019- and as Sole Deity \u2013\u2018Ilaahiyyah\/\u0625\u0644\u0647\u064a\u0629\u2019<a href=\"#_ftn3\"><sup>[3]<\/sup><\/a> or \u2018Uloohiyyah\u2019 as many pronounce it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">God showed Abraham His \u2018Malakoot\u2019 so that he would (observe and) become one of the \u2018Al Mooqineen\/The Ascertained-\u0645\u0646 \u0627\u0644\u0645\u0648\u0642\u0646\u064a\u0646\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-list\"><li>Verses 76-79 are the direct result of such observation culminating in certitude!&nbsp; Most commentators tell us that the issue of his saying that star, the moon, and the sun, were \u2018his Rabb\/Lord Sustainer\u2019 was not a debate within himself but rather, he was setting himself up as an example of a Searcher, debating his people indirectly in such a logical manner, to arrive at a conclusion that would be evident to all.&nbsp; At any rate, whether it was a debate in himself or one he\u2019d set up as an example, it is an excellent one, evidenced by the fact that God mentions it for all time.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">He was definitely searching.&nbsp; He was definitely teaching.&nbsp; He was definitely positioning himself apart from his idolator father and people. As for us, it is best to learn from what God tells us, without elaborating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Also, only God knows what -and how- He showed Abraham His Malakoot!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Abraham was seeing God\u2019s Domination over His Dominion; he was not seeing the star, the moon, the sun the way we see them when we look at them; His awe-inspiring, certitude-generating experience was his alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">In verse 76 we encountered the verb \u2018janna- (\u062c\u0646\u0651), which means \u2018to conceal\/enclose,\u2019 describing the night enveloping him in its darkness in {<em>the night \u2018janna\u2019 upon him<\/em>}.&nbsp; This is the root verb of the noun \u2018Jannah- \u062c\u064e\u0646\u0651\u0629 meaning an enclosed Garden, as well as the Jinn- \u062c\u0650\u0646\u0651- creatures concealed or hidden )from our point of view, see <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.com\/post\/iqralaan.wordpress.com\/340\">Blog Post Day 44<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Verse 79 is a beautiful public affirmation made by Prophet Abraham, peace upon him, and is for us today, what we call \u2018the Supplication of Direction\u2019 to God (\u062f\u0639\u0627\u0621 \u0627\u0644\u062a\u0648\u062c\u0651\u0647 &#8211; meaning by which we direct ourselves to Him).<a href=\"#_ftn4\"><sup>[4]<\/sup><\/a>&nbsp; Many Muslims begin every single prayer by saying this verse, with full-knowledge that they are repeating Abraham\u2019s words (just as we do our Pilgrimage rites in his footsteps- see <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.com\/post\/iqralaan.wordpress.com\/205\">Blog Post Day 12<\/a>)!&nbsp; Isn\u2019t that fact in itself, a most eloquent affirmation of the unity of people who have faith and trust in God?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">If others, who also have high esteem for Prophet Abraham, knew that, they\u2019d realize that we are simply trying to maintain our course according to God\u2019s single Message to Mankind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-list\"><li>In Verses 80-82 we find more of Prophet Abraham\u2019s eloquent argument with his people.&nbsp; We feel no need to \u2018fill in the blanks\u2019 here, despite the fact that we are told nothing about the other side of the argument; we gain insight into what the other side was saying or doing by simply following his response!&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">God tells us what He wants us to know.&nbsp; Period.&nbsp; As for us, we must simply have faith and trust in His Wisdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Abraham says that he has absolutely no fear of the deities which they associate with God, and (in Verse 81) he questions <em>their<\/em> logic \u2013that they could even ask him of that- yet <em>they<\/em> do not fear actually HAVING SHIRKED God and worshipped idols instead?!&nbsp; Therefore, who of both parties (theirs or his) should have more right to feel secure, if they but knew?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Verse 82 is a statement informing us, as to whom Security <em>truly<\/em> belongs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>It indicates clearly that Security belongs to Those who have Attained Faith <em>AND do not \u2018yalbisoo\/confuse\/obscure\u2019<\/em><\/strong>(Ali\/Asad) <strong><em>their faith with any wrongdoing<\/em><\/strong> (the verb is \u2018labasa\u2019).<strong><em>&nbsp; <\/em>Only such persons shall have Security and be rightly Guided.<em>&nbsp; <\/em><\/strong>Let us attempt to live up to that!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Verse 83 concludes this narrative, showing that Abraham\u2019s compelling argument was sent from God <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altafsir.com\/ViewTranslations.asp?Display=yes&amp;SoraNo=6&amp;Ayah=83&amp;toAyah=83&amp;Language=2&amp;LanguageID=2&amp;TranslationBook=7\">(Asad sees it as \u2018God\u2019s argument\u2019<\/a>), asserting that God elevates in \u2018darajah\u2019 whom He wills.<a href=\"#_ftn5\"><sup>[5]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-list\"><li>Verses 84-87 go on to mention 17 of God\u2019s Prophets by name -after referring to Abraham- and mentioning his family line of Prophets, Isaac and Jacob,<a href=\"#_ftn6\"><sup>[6]<\/sup><\/a> the last name mentioned here being Lot, peace upon them all.&nbsp; They are described with beautiful attributes and the statement that they were chosen and guided to a \u2018Straightened Path- \u0635\u0631\u0627\u0637 \u0645\u0633\u062a\u0642\u064a\u0645.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Verse 88 informs us that, had any one of God\u2019s worshippers shirked God, his works\/efforts would have been painfully voided\/desolated. See <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.com\/post\/iqralaan.wordpress.com\/268\">Blog Post Day 26<\/a> for the word HabaTa\/\u062d\u064e\u0628\u064e\u0637\u064e .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Verse 89&nbsp; speaks of those (Prophets\/Messengers and their people) given the Compilation (singular!) and Wisdom and Prophethood, that if any were to deny the message, God will entrust it to another community who would not Deny it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Although this was a warning to Qureish at the time, it has remained a warning ever since!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-list\"><li>If anyone were to deny God\u2019s Message, He would entrust it to others who would not deny it!<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Let us reflect a little and try to do what Prophet Abraham did.&nbsp; Would we realize what this statement means and notice that those who have denied God\u2019s Message actually open the way -at their loss- for others to take it over?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Isn\u2019t this something WE should be thinking of?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">May we all, having received God\u2019s Message, fulfil our trust.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">May we approach it \u2018Bismil-Lah.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">May we go through it with \u2018Iqra!\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">May we follow it in \u2018Tadabbur.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">May we learn from its Ayaat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">May we be enlightened by its Noor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">May we gain \u2018Yaqeen\/Certitude.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Ameen\u2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-list\"><li>Verse 90 is addressed to Prophet Muhammad, peace upon him, telling him that these were (the Prophets) gift-guided by God, and that he should follow their guidance, and that he should inform his people that he is NOT asking them any personal reward, but that it (his Message) is only a Reminder for all \u2018the nations\/mankind\u2019 (Ali\/Asad), or perhaps it is a Reminder \u2018for all those who KNOW\u2019 (\u0639\u0627\u0644\u0650\u0645\u064a\u0646)<a href=\"#_ftn7\"><sup>[7]<\/sup><\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Enough said!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Our next Reading is from HQ6:91-101<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Peace unto all!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"#_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a> There is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altafsir.com\/ViewTranslations.asp?Display=yes&amp;SoraNo=6&amp;Ayah=74&amp;toAyah=74&amp;Language=2&amp;LanguageID=2&amp;TranslationBook=7\">some discussion<\/a> as to his \u0623\u0628\/\/abb\/ whom some say may have been his uncle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"#_ftnref2\">[2]<\/a> In <a href=\"https:\/\/tanzil.net\/#26:214\">HQ 26:214<\/a> our beloved Messenger Muhammad, peace upon him, was first told to warn his closest relations (family\/friends).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"#_ftnref3\">[3]<\/a> \u0627\u0644\u0632\u0645\u062e\u0634\u0631\u064a: &#8220;\u0645\u0644\u0643\u0648\u062a \u0627\u0644\u0633\u0645\u0670\u0648\u0627\u062a \u0648\u0627\u0644\u0623\u0631\u0636 \u064a\u0639\u0646\u064a \u0627\u0644\u0631\u0628\u0648\u0628\u064a\u0629 \u0648\u0627\u0644\u0625\u0644\u0670\u0647\u064a\u0629 \u0648\u0646\u0648\u0641\u0642\u0647 \u0644\u0645\u0639\u0631\u0641\u062a\u0647\u0627 \u0648\u0646\u0631\u0634\u062f\u0647 \u0628\u0645\u0627 \u0634\u0631\u062d\u0646\u0627 \u0635\u062f\u0631\u0647 \u0648\u0633\u062f\u0651\u062f\u0646\u0627 \u0646\u0638\u0631\u0647 \u0648\u0647\u062f\u064a\u0646\u0627\u0647 \u0644\u0637\u0631\u064a\u0642 \u0627\u0644\u0627\u0633\u062a\u062f\u0644\u0627\u0644. \u0648\u0644\u064a\u0643\u0648\u0646 \u0645\u0646 \u0627\u0644\u0645\u0648\u0642\u0646\u064a\u0646 \u0641\u0639\u0644\u0646\u0627 \u0630\u0644\u0643.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"#_ftnref4\">[4]<\/a> Wajjahtu wajhiya lillathee faTaras-samaawati wal-ardh, Haneefan wama ana minal-mushrikeen. relative to one\u2019s effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"#_ftnref6\">[6]<\/a> Al Razi (544-606 AH\/1150-1210 CE) says that Prophet Ishmael\u2019s name came later in the verses because these verses began by speaking of the Prophets who descended from Abraham (the Prophets of Bani Isra-eel), and it is not fitting that Prophet Muhammad would be made to mention himself here (his being the only descendant of Prophet Ishmael) peace upon all God\u2019s Prophets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Actually, when you think of it, the fact that our Prophet was not even mentioned in this lineage -while having to deliver these verses in person to everyone around him- constitutes such strong evidence of the truth of his Message:&nbsp;
